Silicon Carbide Ceramic Foam Filters mainly for filtration of cast iron and non-ferrous alloys. With their excellent resistance to attack and corrosion from molten iron liquid, they can effectively remove inclusions, reduce trapped gas from liquid metal and provide laminar flow, and then the filtered metal is significantly cleaner. Cleaner metal results in higher-quality castings, less scrap, and fewer inclusion defects, all of which contribute to bottom-line profit.
SIC Ceramic Foam filters are just developed as a new type molten metal filter to decrease casting flaw in recent years. With its characteristics of light-weight, high mechanical strength, large specific surface areas, high porosity, excellent thermal shock resistance, erode resistance, high-performance,SIC Ceramic Foam filter is designed for filtering impurities from molten Iron & Alloy, nodular cast iron castings, grey iron castings and malleable castings, Bronze casting, etc.
SIC foam filter is thermally conductive (ceramic foam filters are insulating oxide ceramics). Therefore, there is less temperature gradient between the hot and cold sides of the SIC foam filter. This means less superheat is required in the hearth, and less sludging occurs because the temperature can be maintained in the dip-out well.
Actual temperature gradients depend on furnace design, well area, metal throughput, and filter cleanliness. Gradients less than 5℃ exist with the steady metal flow, for example, during continuous dip-out, ladling, or pouring - and when oxide buildup, which is insulating, is removed periodically
SIC foam filter is excellent for use during pouring of nodular cast iron, lamellar cast iron, malleable cast iron, and all further high- and low-alloyed cast-iron types. Further applications are in pouring of copper alloys. SIC foam filter has a porosity of more than 80% and grants through its 3-dimensional structure an excellent filtration over the thickness.
SiC Ceramic Foam Filters (CFF-SC) is available in all standard dimensions and different thickness. The most common porosities are PPI 10, 20 and 30; higher porosities are available upon request.

1. Select suitable temperature SIC foam filter according to kinds of alloy, the filter should not exceed temperature and damage.
2. Select suitable bore density, purification is fitted in with the quality of the casting.
3. Select the dimension of the suitable SIC foam filter, not increasing the time of molding.
4. Reduce the second dreg.
5. Porosity: filter 80-90% when founding
1. The product of other specifications can also be prepared according to customers' requirements.
2. PPI (Pores Per Inch), PPI means the number of holes per inch.
